ATIKU BLASTS BUHARI ON CHIBOK GIRLS, SECURITY, SAYS 'NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT 2019'

Fulfil your promise to Nigerians on security, not everything is about 2019 - Atiku blasts Buhari

- The former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has denied reports that one of the Chibok girls was being forced to attend his school

- Atiku said the reports that the Chibok girl was making attempts to take her life is false

- He also urged the President Buhari-led All progressives Congress party to fulfil their campaign promises on security to Nigerians

A former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his election campaign promises to Nigerians.

Atiku urged the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC) party to make Nigerians feel safe as promised during the 2015 general election.

The former vice president in a statement signed by his media adviser Paul Ibe on Sunday, September 10, faulted reports that one of the Chibok girls freed attempted to take her life in a protest to being compelled to attend one of his schools.

Atiku said: "Not everything is about 2019.”

He said he was shocked to see the reports and was not aware that anyone was being forced to attend any of his schools.

Atiku said: "The Waziri Adamawa prays that those who have suffered so much get all the treatment and support they need, and urgently calls on the Federal Government to honour its promise to make Nigerians feel safe again.

“Atiku Abubakar is not aware that anyone is forced to attend ABTI schools. The story is contrived hogwash. He urges the media, a critical partner in our march to progress and development, to remember that not everything is about 2019.

“I wish to stress that the intention of the Waziri Adamawa was to give the freed Chibok girls (just like he did to an earlier batch in 2014) the best possible education, and that was why he helped set up the foundation programme to create such an opportunity in a familiar environment.

“Unfortunately, the best intentions can backfire. These girls are still healing, and clearly, the recent deterioration of the security situation in the North-East has opened old wounds."

We earlier reported that APC had called on the minister of women affairs Aisha Al-Hassan to resign.

Describing the minister as a liar and blackmailer, a member of the APC national working committee Inuwa Abdulkadir also said Atiku's comment about the party and President Buhari is misleading.

Abdulkadir said the remarks by Al-Hassan rattled the party and was totally unexpected.
