Innoson opens up on arrest by EFCC, briefs kinsmen on ordeal
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Group of Companies, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, says his arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), earlier this week, “has no tribal or zone undertone but was purely business-related.”
He made the clarification during a brief chat with journalists Saturday in his country home, Nnewi, shortly after his return to brief his kinsmen on his ordeal, which sparked outrage among Igbos.

Chukwuma confirmed that EFCC came for him at the behest of a leading commercial bank that was deducting some money illegally from his account “for over eleven years amounting to over N400 million.”
He said that when observed the illegal withdrawals, he consulted an auditor who tabulated the correct amount “which the bank agreed to refund but later reneged.”
According to him, the matter was taken to both the high court and Court of Appeal where he won.
The Innoson Chairman expressed surprise that the bank could involve the EFCC to arrest him even when they were the one indebted to him.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari, Anambra State Governor, Chief
Willie Obiano, some Igwes, Emirs and Obas and other notable personalities and groups across the country for intervening in the matter.
The residence of the business mogul has become a Mecca of some sort as people trooped in their numbers to felicitate with him even as the business mogul welcomed them with a huge smile.
