Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information on Wednesday said the Nigerian Police are creating a storm in a teacup by declaring wanted Kassim Afegbua, media aide to former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida wanted for issuing a statement on behalf of his principal.
Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Momoh who said the police has right to arrest anybody for questioning however said it is wrong to assume that Afegbua will issue a statement without his boss approval.

“The fact is the police can declare anybody wanted in accordance with the law or they can invite anybody for questioning on any issue in accordance with due process. If you go and meet the police, there is a limit the police can hold you. If they want to charge you to court, they can do so”.
“I think personally this issue is creating a storm in a teacup I don’t think what Kassim Afegbua did on behalf of his principal should be any cause for alarm. First of all, IBB was my boss. I was his Minister for four years”.
“ I don’t think he is someone that will deny what he said and I don’t think Afegbua can attribute what he didn’t say to him but the problem always is that the media interprets such statements” he said.
