A suspected fake lawyer who has been parading himself as Barrister Chris Elisha and had been practicing for the past fifteen years has been arrested by the Nigeria police.
The alleged imposter was arrested on February 6, at Ojo magistrate court where he appeared on behalf of an accused person but found it difficult to move a motion for the variation of the bail condition of his client.
The Lagos state police spokesperson, Chike Oti, in a statement obtained by Us, said the alleged imposter’s predicament was noticed by one Barrister Nnamdi Samuel Nwafor who challenged his qualification.
Barister Nnamdi Nwafor maintained that even a newly qualified lawyer that had just been called to the bar would have been able to move a motion without qualms.
An argument between both men was said to have attracted the attention of other lawyers and the court duty police men.
The suspect was said to have been taken to the nearby Ojo police station where he reportedly confessed that he is a mere charge and bail lawyer who had been practicing for the past fifteen years. He claimed he was more into corporate law practice and does little of litigation.
The police spokesperson said that the suspect further claimed that he read law at Eastern Ukrainian University, in the former Soviet Union but had no certificate to show for it.

“Barrister Chris Elisha told the police that he is a native of Avodim Ubakala in Umuahia south local government area of Abia state.
The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the X- Squad Section of the State Police Command Headquarters and would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation," the police said
Meanwhile, the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday, February 7, assured the Nigerian army of his administration's readiness to support and scale up the operations of the military against kidnapping, smuggling, armed robbery, illegal oil bunkering and other security challenges in the state.
The governor stated this at Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja, when he received the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian army, Major General Enebong Okon Udoh, on courtesy visit, Vanguard reports.
We gathered that Governor Ambode said though a lot had been achieved in securing the state in the last 32 months, the state government would nonetheless continue to support military operations designed to ensure residents go about their social and economic activities without let or hindrance.
