Late Emir of Borgu, Haliru Jikantoro 111
The Paramount ruler of Borgu kingdom, Niger state, Haliru Dantoro Kitoro 111, has died.
He died Friday in Germany after a brief illness, reports say.
Reports say he was 77.
Confirming his death, Umar Nasko, a family member and Niger State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election, said he received the news with shock.
He said the emir died in Germany after a brief illness.
“The Emir, by all intent and purpose, referred to me as “my son” and so in him I lost a father figure,”Mr. Nasko said.
”I will continue to cherish his words of advise to me and will pray Allah to host his gentle soul in Aljannah firdaousi.”
The late traditional ruler was a Senator in 1992 on the platform of the defunct National Republican Convention
He became Emir of Borgu on February 26, 2002, after the demise of Isiaku Musa Jikantoro.
