In line with the governorship election scheduled to hold in less than three weeks in Bayelsa state, the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has resolved to embark on a formal campaign for its flag bearer, Timipre Sylva, on Monday, November 16.

According to The Punch, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the APC national chairman, is expected to lead other national officers and party stalwarts to the commencement ceremony for the election of Sylva and Wilberforce Igiri as governor and deputy governor respectively in the December 5 poll in the state.

The opposition party in the state slated the kick-off to hold in Sagbama local government area of the state.

Following the scheduled campaign, Chief Nathan Egba, the director of media and publicity, Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO), said in a statement released on Sunday, November 15, that the governorship campaign will be moved to Ekeremor on Wednesday, November 18.

He noted that the campaign will also be taken to Southern Ijaw on Friday, November 20.

The statement further read that the party’s local government area campaigns would  move to Nembe on Monday,  November 23, then to Brass on Wednesday and later on Friday, November 27, it would be the turn of Ogbia.

According to the Bayelsa APC spokesman, the campaign train would hit Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area on November 28 before the grand finale on Monday, December 1, at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa.

Among those to grace the campaigns are all the state governors elected on the platform of the APC.

The party publicity secretary called on all other party faithful and supporters to join the team in to create more awareness in a bid to win the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Seriake Dickson, who contests on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party had recently reprimanded his major contender in the December 5 poll, Sylva, over what he called propaganda and unnecessary blackmail in his campaigns.
