Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has in line with the appointment of the Peoples Democratic Party chairman in the state, Chief Idowu Faleye, sworn him in as a commissioner in the civil service commission, Daily Times reports.
However, the state deputy governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola, who represented Governor Fayose pointed out that the development was yet another occasion to demonstrate the commitment of his administration to the people of Ekiti state.
Alongside the swearing in of the former PDP chairman, was the commission’s chairman, Reverend Wale Komolafe.
Olusola also swore in other commissioners. They include Chief Gboyega Oguntuase, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo and Mrs Aramide Oyedeji Ojewole.
Retrospectively, Chief Faleye was reported to have been removed from office in May by the state chapter of the PDP executive council over alleged inefficiency and refusal to call for party meeting since he was appointed in acting capacity as the chairman following the elevation of the former chairman, Makanjuola Ogundipe, as chairman, South West zone of the party.
He was immediately replaced with the vice chairman of the party, Olatunde Olatunde.
There were also reports that Faleye was arrested by the special police squad from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on a Wednesday, August 26, in connection with a dud cheque issued for the payment of the rent of the state secretariat.
He however debunked the allegation, stating that he was only invited by the police about the controversial cheque and was released, because he was able to authenticate that his signature was not appended to the cheque, Vanguard reported.
Meanwhile, the state governor had recently likened the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to that of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, in which the rule of law was largely acclaimed not to have been respected.
He said it was no surprise to him since they both have the same military background, This Day reports.
