In what appears to be a lost battle for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate ahead the forth coming November election in Kogi LGA, Prince Abubakar Audu, escaped being lynched by angry mob on Tuesday 03-11-2015, who pelted him with stones and pure water.
The APC campaign train which made a stop over at Koton Karfe in continuation of its rally met a stiff opposition, as the people of the area said they would resist the candidature of Prince Audu with all their might.
Trouble started for the APC candidate in Kotonkarfe after keeping the people waiting till 5pm in the evening, a character a source said is Prince Audu’s usual attitude.
On arrival, the candidate confirmed the speculation made about him of plans to change the Ohimege of Koto when he assumed office as governor by failing to pay the royal father the usual traditional homage on arrival.
The rally which held at the front of the palace, turned rowdy, with several stones and pure water thrown at the APC candidate and his running mate with shouts of Ole, barawo, return our stolen N11 billion.
The APC candidate who had to take to his heels, had his white baba riga torn, as he had to be smuggled into his car while his running mate scaled the palace fence to join an okada rider who helped him out of the confusion.
A source said the people of Koto have asked the APC candidate to pursue his ambition of becoming governor as primary and not the replacement of the traditional ruler with his Deputy Director General as secondary to his ambition.
It would be recalled that Hon Akawu Salihu the Deputy Campaign DG, contested the stool to the Ohimege, but lost to Isah Koto, and since then had not relented in his interest to occupy the coveted traditional first class stool.
It would be recalled that the APC governor had in same circumstance removed the Aganchu of Budon for a preferred candidate as demanded by his friend and loyalist, Alh Aliyi Autayaya in Lokoja in 1999.
