A six-year-old marriage between one Sunday Adelakun and his wife, Rasidat, has been dissolved by an Ile-Ife Customary Court over alleged fornication and pride.
DAILY POST recalls that the complainant, Adelakun, had on November 2, urged the court to dissolve the union over alleged fornication, pride, constant fighting and uncooperative attitude.
In his complaint, Adelakun told the court that they got married in 2009 and have two children, 5-year-old Seyi Adelakun and 11-month-old Imole Adelakun
According to him, “My wife is a fornicator. She doesn’t give me rest of mind.
“Since we got married, she neither shows courtesy nor respect for me and my family.
“Am tired of her, there was a time her boyfriend attacked me. He would have killed me, if not God, to the extent that I was hospitalized,” Adelakun complained.
“If I delay the divorce, she would eventually kill me and marry her concubine, the earlier the better for the safety of my life,” he added.
The President of the Court, Chief Abioye Olatunbosun, in his judgement, dissolved the marriage, but ordered that the dowry should not be refunded.
The president awarded the custody of the two children to the defendant and advised her to take them to government hospital whenever any of them becomes sick, ordering that the complainant pays N3, 000 every month per child for their upkeep and must take full responsibility of their education.
He, on behalf of the court, advised both parties to give peace a chance and desist from causing trouble henceforth.
