A Nigeria native living in St. Louis faces possible deportation now that he's admitted in federal court that he's stolen $734,000 in government funds by filing more than 50 bogus tax returns.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1MTiGGy) reports that 30-year-old Olufunsho Adeshina pleaded guilty Tuesday in St. Louis.
Prosecutors say that from January 2013 until last May, Adeshina used personal information belonging to others to file the false tax returns.
Adeshina faces roughly five years or more in prison and will have to repay the money. But U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel warned Adeshina on Tuesday there was a "significant likelihood if not certainty" that he would be deported because of the conviction.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 26.
