Rapists must face the law

Three teenagers, Elijah Adebowale, 15, Suleiman Balogun, 16 and Shefiu Adam, 14, were arrested and arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State, over the alleged drugging and gang-raping a 13-year-old secondary school girl in the Iju-Ishaga area of the state, reports Total Media.
The boys, with three others at large, were charged on two counts of conspiracy and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momah, who said they committed the crimes in an uncompleted building after they had lured the girl there and after drugging her, the took turns to have sex with her.
Momah told the court that the young victim was coming out from a church when the boys sent her to get drinks for them within the area
When she came back with the drinks, they offered her a bottle of soft drink which they had spiked with drugs and after drinking, she lost her senses and each of them had carnal knowledge of her.
When the charges were read to the accused, they all pleaded not guilty and the judge, F.A Adeeyo, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 each, while adjourning the case till December 7, for hearing.
