A 30 years-old woman, Sandra Terngu has been arrested by the Benue State police command for allegedly impersonating as wife of the Benue Governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom.
The suspected impersonator, a resident of Behind Saint Dominic Catholic Church Gboko road in Makurdi was yesterday arraigned before a Makurdi magistrate court presided over by Mr. Austin Ityonyiman.
The suspect was arrested in Makurdi town at a public function organized for the awareness creation on the dreaded HIV/AIDs. She reportedly pretended to be the wife of the governor and lied to have been detailed to represent her.
However, when the case up yesterday, the suspected pleaded not guilty and stated that the accusation was a mere allegation, saying she did not commit the offense.
Lawyer to the accused, Mr. A. Ahile applied for bail for the suspect and assured that his client would not contravene investigation but would attend the court sessions regularly.
The trial magistrate, Mr. Ityonyiman accordingly granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20, 000 with a surety who has a verifiable address.He further adjourned the case to December 22, 2015 for hearing.
