Bishop Kidnappers Reduce Ransom Amount

Bishop Kidnappers Reduce Ransom Amount

Bishop Gabriel Adebanjo and his wife

Criminals who earlier this month kidnapped Lagos bishop Gabriel Adebanjo and his wife have reduced the the sum of ransom demanded for their relief.

The couple were kidnapped in Warri on December 5 as they travelled to Delta state with the aim to attend the adult harvest programme scheduled for the next day, The Punch reports.

They never reached the event site. Their driver was shot in the hand and in the leg and the two were quickly whisked away.

The abductors first demanded N100 million, then N50 million and later agreed to collect N10 million, which is still a huge sum for the church.

The spokesman of the church, Femi Adetona, narrated:

“We spoke with the kidnappers this morning and they have agreed to collect N10m. But the money is still too much. Where do we get the money from?

“Fervent prayers are ongoing in all the dioceses of the African Church nationwide for a quick release, especially at the monthly prayer meeting of the church which held at the church’s Solution Camp in Abeokuta over the weekend.”

Another family  couple has been recently abducted in Ogun state. The man said to have been released to pay ransom for his wife who remained in captivity.
