Police Arraign Stylist Over Alleged Abduction


For allegedly abducting a 14-year-old girl at Abule-Egbeda area, a suburb of Lagos state, Boluwatife Adewale, a 23-year-old lady, was arraigned before an Ikeja chief magistrates’ court of the state.

According to Vanguard report, Adewale, a stylist, who lives at Ikotun area of Lagos, is facing a charge bordering on abduction at Tajudeen Elias-led magistrates’ court.

In his narration at the court, the prosecutor, Sergeant Jimah Iseghede, said that the offence was committed between September and November.

Further in his narration, the sergeant said that the victim had eloped with a boy; who after a week abandoned her and ran away.

He said: “The accused met her wandering and instead of taking her to the nearest police station, she decided to accommodate her.

“It was easy for the accused to accommodate the victim since she was living alone in a one-room apartment.”

The prosecutor added that the 14-year old girl had been recognised by her mother’s friend who eventually picked her up and raised alarm over the alleged abduction.

According to the sergeant, the offence violates the provision of section 141 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state 2011. Section 141 prescribes a two-year imprisonment for an offender.

The accused, who was granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum had in the proceeding, pleaded that she was not guilty of the abduction charge.

In addition to the order of the bail and its conditions, the chief magistrate also ordered that the victim be remanded at the correctional home for girls, Idi-Araba in Lagos.

The case was latter adjourned till December 16 for mention.

Meanwhile, fresh revelations have emerged on how the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, allegedly aided Islamist fighters, Boko Haram, in the importation of illegal arms into the country.

This revelation was made by the National Task Force on Illegal Importation of Firearms (NATFORCE) on Tuesday, December 1, where it was also alleged that the arms were delivered to the terrorists.
