A 29-year-old woman, Adaeze Eboh, has dragged his 46-year-old former lover, Kalu Samuel, to court for his alleged refusal to marry her, PMNews reports.
Eboh dragged her estranged lover to the Isolo Magistrates’ court for trying to jilt and dupe him at the same time. Samuel had promised to marry Eboh last year and Police investigations revealed he got some money from Eboh sometime in July 2015 to set up his phone business.
However, Samuel decided to leave the relationship barely five months after he collected N147,00 from her to start his business. When Eboh asked him for a refund of the money, he beat her blue black and then chased her away. Eboh went to Aswani Police Station and reported that Samuel obtained the money from her under false pretence, jilted and assaulted her.
He was arrested and at the station, Eboh insisted that since he had reneged on his promise to marry her, he should give her back her money. Samuel refused to refund the money because, according to him, during the period the relationship lasted, he too spent his money on her.
He said it is his family’s decision not to marry her as he cannot marry her against their tradition in Ohafia in Abia State. Samuel was charged with obtaining under false pretence that he would marry her and assault under the Criminal Code.
