A Lagos landlady has been arrested for vandalising an NNPC pipeline using her water well.
A 59-year-old woman, Floyinka Ayinde who is a landlady at the Isheri Olofin area of Lagos State, has been arrested for allegedly connecting a pipe in her water well to a nearby NNPC pipeline from where she has been scooping the product for many years without detection.
Ayinde was arrested by policemen from the Idimu Division of the Lagos Police Command after a tip off, and was handed over to the Anti-Vandalism Intelligence Unit Team B set up by Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.
PM News reports that Ayinde, whose house is located at KML 1, LASU Road, Iyana Odo bus stop, had been secretly siphoning the petrol illegally for the past three years until her cup became full.
But the woman who denied her involvement in the act, alleged that vandals has been operating in her house and she had reported the matter to the NNPC officials but they did not do anything about it.
She added that she made a mistake for not informing the police because she relied on NNPC who told her not to worry, revealing that the NNPC officials use to come with a team and she did not ask to know whether they were really officers or not.
