That was the night, according to closed circuit TV footage that has emerged, that a Russian doctor punched a patient in the head who collapsed on the floor and later died.
Russian media reports say the patient that died had earlier kicked a nurse, after which the doctor punched him in the head.
Russian media reported that on the TV footage (seen below) a woman doctor can be seen examining the patient when a male doctor comes into the room and asks the patient why he touched "his sister."
The doctor then grabs the shirtless patient and shoves him out the door. The doctor is followed out by another man (in a dark coat) who had accompanied the patient to the emergency room.
The next thing seen on the footage is the man in the dark coat come flying back into the room either from a shove or punch from the doctor, who then begins to pummel the man with punches.
The doctor hits the man with five or six punches then notices that the shirtless patient has come back into the room. The doctor is then seen taking one step toward the shirtless patient and then punching the patient in the head, after which the patient falls to the ground and evidently hit his head on the ground.
From that point forward the patient who was struck in the head does not get up. He lies there motionless. The doctor is then attacked by the man in the dark coat who throws a punch at the doctor. The doctor responds with a furious barrage of punches and kicks until he man is beaten into submission.
Later the doctor who had punched the patient tried to resuscitate the victim who was still motionless on the floor but was unsuccessful at reviving the man.
The doctor was identified by REN TV as Ilya Zelendinov and another TV station said Relatives had identified the dead patient as Yevgeniy Bakhtin, 56, a resident of Belgorod.
