The three suspects –Hassan Mohammed, Gadafi Abdullahi and Mohammed Suleiman – were arrested at their hideout in Tipper Garage, Mabushi, Abuja, with a knife, a woven ladder, saws, iron rods, substances suspected to be hemp, window frames and some charms.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, told our correspondent on Sunday that the gang members had been on the wanted list of the command for some time.
He said the suspects had already confessed to the crime, adding that they had been arraigned in court.
Manzah said, “The modus operandi of the members of the robbery syndicate is to carefully hang the woven ladder, made from knitted wool, on the wall of their victims’ fence to gain entrance into the house without being noticed by the occupants and afterward robbing them of huge sums of money and other valuables.
“The suspects, now arrested, had been on the wanted list of the FCT Police Command; they all confessed to the crime during interrogation and have been arraigned in court.”
The spokesman also explained that the police apprehended one Godpower Maduwuba, aka pastor, Onyebuchi Etiti and Chimunya Onyeji, for using fabricated master keys to gain access into parked cars to steal valuables.
“The arrest of Etiti, who used the said keys to steal a bag containing some valuables from a parked car, led to the subsequent arrest of other members of the syndicate,” Manzah said.
