Rivers Politic: Wike's Aide Dumps PDP For APC

Governor Nyesom Wike,

Opunabo Inko-Tariah, the former special adviser to the Rivers state governor on media and publicity, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.

The ex-aide to Governor Nyesom Wike, who resigned his appointment after the Rivers state governorship election petition tribunal nullified the governor’s electoral victory in October 2015, has declared his support for gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Leadership reports.

Making his defection to the APC known, Inko-Tariah told reporters in Port Harcourt on Thursday, January 7, that the immediate past governor of the state and now minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi came to his aid when he took ill.

Wike’s former aide added that although he had criticized Amaechi in the past, despite this, Amaechi took pity on him and contributed to his hospital bill.

He stressed further that in order to reciprocate the former governor’s gesture he would do his best to ensure that Peterside emerged as the governor of the state should there be a rerun.

Inko-Tariah said: “It was surprising that a man I censored, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, CON, the Hon. Minister of Transportation, was the same person who showed unsolicited love and care.

“It was reinvigorating when he called to sympathise and also gave his widow’s mite.”Meanwhile, Governor Seriake Dickson had called on the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Timipre Sylva to “accept defeat or be ready to be humiliated by the people as no militant can deliver him and the APC”.
