The monarch who was kidnapped in front of his palace gate in Olomoro town in Isoko South local government area of Delta State last Friday was allegedly dumped in a nearby bush in Sapele.
Dependable sources told our correspondent on phone that the traditional ruler was rescued at about 10pm after being abandoned by his abductors.
The gunmen had on Monday contacted the royal family demanding for a ransom of N50 million.
Unconfirmed reports say ransom was paid before he was released. Our source could not however state the amount.
At about 10:45pm, the monarch was still being ferried to his kingdom.
Mr. Okah Akpotha Fidelis, Media assistant to Isoko south council chairman also confirmed the release on his Facebook page.
The Delta state Police Command had on Monday revealed that the traditional ruler was abducted at a pool office operated by the monarch few kilometers from the palace.
