It is no longer news that former Minister, Femi Kayode now has a son, his first, after having had 5 daughters. A few weeks back, his new wife, Precious Chikwendu delivered a baby boy for him in a hospital in Abuja. She spoke to City People last week about the joy of motherhood and their love affair.

How did you feel when you heard the news that you had a baby boy for FFK?

Heard? I was in the process of delivery and was fully conscious of every action . I was watching the screen during the whole procedure and was very anxious to meet the one I’d spent the 9 months carrying.

When I heard his voice my eyes lit up and when I saw his face all I could say was “you were worth it all”. The doctors brought him to me after his father blessed him, I gave him my first kiss and let the doctors take him away for assessment.

Were you expecting a Baby Boy or Girl?

We both agreed on whatever sex came our way.  But I’ve always wanted a son first before a girl and I’m sure God heard my wishes .
How did you break the news to him? How did he take the news?

LOL he broke the news to me . He held my hands all through the procedure but the moment Lotanna was out I felt his grip breakoff  and next he said to me “behold thy son”. There was this smile on his face that explained the unspeakable  joy in him.

How have you found your relationship with FFK?

Wonderful… It’s been fun, full of laughter and suprises. He came into my life when I thought I’d given up on relationships. It took some time for him to convince me that this was real because I just wasn’t sure I was ready.
He is older than you. How do you relate?

We have the basics of every successful relationship which is friendship.  We do everything together including making decisions and silly arguments. Most of the time we agree ?
How did you meet? How did he toast you? Did you play hard to get?

We met in Owerri at a friend’s house.

For how long have you been dating?
We’ve been together for almost 2 years now.

How do you take the fact that you are married to a popular public figure?
I take it in my stride. I’m also a publuc figure by virtue of my being an actress, beauty queen and a pagaent director. I’ve always been skeptical about politicians but I’ve learnt alot from him and now I cope very well.
What do you like about him?

I love his openess and bravery.  He speaks his mind regardless of whose ox is gored. I love that he is very compassionate, passionate and very fair to everyone.
What don’t you like about him?

He could be strong willed and stubborn . When he decides on something it’s often difficult to change his mind. But I always find a way. He also  doesn’t like stock fish(okporoko).

Tell us about the joy of mother hood. What has changed about you.

My Joy knows no bound. I look at his face and I’m at a loss for words. He is special and precious to us.

Who is Precious? Tell us your story?

I was born in Awka, Anambra state 27years ago,my father hails from nanka in anambra state and my mother from umuahia in Abia State. I am very proud of my  Igbo heritage but I’m even prouder of being a Nigerian I am a Pentecostal Christian. Although I was raised in Assemblies of God Church, I am a member of Winners Chapel .

Was raised in Makurdi, Benue State by my parents and I went to school there up until the time I went to the University of calabar where I studied Environmental Education (forestry and wild life conservation).

Whilst I was in the university I went into part time modelling and I enjoyed it emensely. I made quite a success of it and I was amazed at the fact that my adverts appeared on television, billboards and  postals all over the country . So at a relatively young age I was already a public figure.

I stopped modelling as I was approaching my finals in the university and after that , I graduated in 2009.
After I graduated from the university I went into the corporate world and worked as the commercial manager at Star Advantage Company which is a construction company based in calabar. At the same time I was doing alot of part time acting which had always been my passion.
