Minutes after a Bristow Helicopter crashed in an unknown destination in Lagos, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the incident.
Speaking with THISDAY, the South-west Spokesperson for NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said, "An Helicopter has crashed into the sea. Emergency rescuers at work. For now there is no casualty. The Operation is ongoing. Further update soon."
However , aviation sources exclusively told THISDAY that the ill-fated helicopter was going for an offshore operation to drop engineers at the rig when it developed a fault.
The source explained that it was the fault that prompted the pilot to attempt an emergency landing, which in this case was the 'prepared switching', which went awry and crashed into the lagoon.
