The pet lioness was brutally stabbed to death by the angry owner.

A sad incident has claimed the live of a well-to-do man after a pet lioness belonging to his friend brutally attacked and killed him.

A wild animal smuggled from Kuwait into Saudi Arabia and kept as a pet by its owner has brutally mauled the man's friend to death.

The lioness mauled a Kuwaiti national to death on Tuesday and had attacked people on two other occasions, its owner told Saudi police.

Narrating how the ugly incident happened, the owner said: “I left her with my friend and went to do some grocery shopping".

He added: “When I came back, I found that she had broken loose from the rope and attacked my friend, breaking his neck and starting to eat parts of his thigh. I was so angry I stabbed her and killed her,” he said, quoted by Saudi news site Al Marsad on Thursday.

Giving more details, the who was distressed by the death of his friend, said they were training the lioness together since her birth and that they moved her to Kuwait three years ago to mate with a lion that the victim had in Kuwait.

The owner attributed the aggression of the wild animal to the fact that she had been shifted to a new place and was seeing unfamiliar people.

The police said the owner was responsible for the death of his friend since he did not draw lessons from the past two incidents.

Authorities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have often warned residents against keeping non-domestic animals in their homes, reports Gulf News.

Investigation into the matter is still ongoing. It has been reported that many lives have been put at risk as a result of the growing trend by some rich people who buy wild animals and exotic pets as a status symbol.

  1. I had my first experience here as a professional kitty cuddled. I’d know spending time with cats getting them to open up a feel good about life. They also have dogs here which I got to play with and make feel good too. They were very friendly at http://www.humanesocietysanduskycounty.org/…
