As investigations continues in the much publicized Lekki Gardens building collapse in Lagos which reportedly killed 34 people, more development has emerged as Nigeria senator has been fingered to be the owner of the building.
According to a Tweet posted by SaharaReporters on their official Twitter page few hours ago, Nigerian Senate's Minority Leader and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, has been allegedly linked to be the owner of the much publicized Lekki building collapse in Lagos.
The Public Relations Officer of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, said in a statement in Lagos on Thursday last week that the death toll from from the five-storey building that collapsed in Lekki area of Lagos rose to 34 and 13 persons were rescued alive as operation reached ground level by 7.20 p.m. on Wednesday.
We also reported it here that the MD of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong, and his contractor, Odofin Taiwo, who were arrested, were pictured in handcuffs as they were arraigned at the Magistrate Court in Ebute Metta on Friday last week for their alleged roles in the collapsed Lekki building that killed atleast 35 people.
Senator Akpabio's involvement is still a shocker as we await to serve you more details as soon as it's made available.
