How Buhari sold his house to get his child forex - Adesina

President Muhammadu Buhari

Femi Adesina, Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity says paucity of foreign exchange – Adesina reveals how Buhari had to sell his house to get his child forex – He however could not confirm if the president got forex from official sources or the parallel market, adding that anyone who cares to know about that could ask President Buhari himself President Muhammadu Buhari sold his property to access foreign exchange (Forex) for his child’s education abroad.

This is according to Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and publicity. Adesina made this known in an interview with Osasu Igbinedion on The Osasu Show. He however could not confirm if the president got forex from official sources or the parallel market, adding that anyone who cares to know about that could ask President Buhari himself, The Cable reports.

President Muhammadu Buhari sold his property to access foreign exchange (Forex) for his child’s education abroad, according to Femi Adesina, He said: “Don’t forget that it was in the public domain even before he became president that when one of his children needed to go abroad he had to sell his property; maybe it was his house in Lagos or somewhere. “Anybody that wants to train a child abroad must be sure that he or she can afford it.

If you can afford it, then there is no problem. “At a time like this when there is paucity of foreign exchange, what the president is simply saying is that central bank may not be able to provide forex but you can always buy your forex at the parallel market if that is what you want.”

Adesina’s remark comes barely a month after Buhari in an interview with Al Jazeerah during his visit to Qatar, said that due to the present economic situation, Nigeria could not afford to allocate foreign exchange for those who decided to send their children to school abroad.

 He said:
“Those who can afford foreign education for their children can go ahead, but Nigeria cannot afford to allocate foreign exchange for those who decided to train their children outside the country. We can’t just afford it.

That is just the true situation.” When reminded by the interviewer that his children school abroad, President Buhari said: “I can afford it.”
