A press Statement issued in Kaduna Thursday, condemned the murder of Mr. Bala Madaki, 66, the District Head of Fadan Karshi, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who was killed by unknown gunmen in his house last Sunday.
The statement signed by the National President of SOKAPU, Barrister Solomon Musa reads, “The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), has again received the news of the unprovoked attack on Fadan Karshi in Sanga Local Government by suspected herdsmen.
“The attackers killed the district head, Mr. Bala Madaki, 66, and his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko, who was writing the 2016 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
“We are calling on the people of Sanga, and all other communities in Southern Kaduna that have borne the brunt of countless attacks from suspected herdsmen, to begin to explore other self-help means of thwarting these persistent attacks that have left some of the Southern Kaduna people in ruins.
“This self-help is to complement whatever measures the state government has/is taking to curtail these killings. We owe it to ourselves to reduce the numbers of mass graves used in burying our people from becoming increased features of our communities.
“Violence is no stranger to Sanga LGA. Natives of the Council have been massacred in indescribable manners for years.
“In the past two years, more than 200 people have been killed so far in Sanga Local Government alone. Other LGAs in Southern Kaduna have also witnessed the barbaric cruelty of these marauding herdsmen who have killed thousands of people and left the entire communities razed to the ground.
“We firstly, commiserate with the people of Sanga Local Government over the new attack, even as they prepare for the burial this Saturday, and pray that the Good Lord bring healing and peace to their communities.
“We also appeal to the state government to, as a matter of urgency, influence the permanent deployment of security personnel to that area, especially the forest serving as boundaries with Plateau and Nasarawa states.
“SOKAPU is also calling on its elected representatives both at the National and State Houses of Assembly to always continue to speak out on the plight of their people when these types of killings occur.”
