Finally, the Kogi State House of Assembly crisis has claimed a major victim as the speaker throws in the towel.
After a long battle for the leadership of the Kogi State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House, Momoh Jimoh-Lawal has finally resigned. In his place, Umar Imam was chosen as his successor.
It would be recalled that the crisis in the Assembly led to the impeachment of the speaker before a court sitting in Abuja reinstated him, the Deputy Speaker, Aliyu Akuh, and seven other Principal Officers of the Kogi State House of Assembly, saying the process that led to their purported impeachment on February 16, 2016, was unconstitutional and illegal.
The court voided the purported election of Umar Imam as the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, as well as the emergence of four others; Friday Sani; Lawal A.T. Ahmed; Bello Abdullahi and John Abah as principal officers of the House.
More details later…
