Our Governors not APC responsible for party’s crises, failed National Convention – PDP Lawmaker

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ehio­zuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, has blamed the Peoples Democratic Party’s botched National Convention and crises on the party’s governors.

Agbonayinma, who is representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency, Edo State, also absolved the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government of the failed convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Recall that the Federal Government was accused of using security apparatus to prevent the party’s National Convention billed for Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt, last week, from holding.

Reacting to the report, the State Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya, denied sealing off the venue, saying the police only complied with a court order to provide security around the venue.

However, the Edo lawmaker, in a statement he personally signed said state governors, whom he described as “emperors,” should be held responsible for the botched convention.

According to Agbonayinma, “It is outrageous to push the very problems we cre­ated by ourselves on others.

“APC has its own woes but on the impunity in our party, PDP we should not blame the APC led federal government. Get it right, APC is not on trial in this matter. All blames should be directed to some emperor governors in our party, who are out to hijack the party for their selfish interests.”

The lawmaker said rather than blame security operatives for the botched convention, they should be commended for proactive measures, in preventing impunity and disobedience of existing court order.

“We should commend the security personnel for being on the side of the law, nobody is above the law anywhere in the world and Nigeria’s case must not be an exception,” he added.
