New York and Jersey Shore bomb suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami is in custody after a shoot-out with police. The Afghan-born US citizen was captured in Linden, New Jersey, near his home town of Elizabeth after a bar owner saw him sleeping rough in the entryway, recognised him and called 911.
Two police officers were shot in the resulting gun fight - one in the hand, the other was saved by his bullet-proof vest. An alert was issued for the 28-year-old early this morning, describing him as 'armed and dangerous'.
Rahami's last known address was raided by police this morning as fears increased that there was a terror cell operating in the New York area.
On Sunday night, law enforcement stopped a car carrying five armed men on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. It's now believed that the five people are related to Rahami.
They were headed to JFK Airport, but it's unclear whether they planned on carrying out another attack or were trying to flee the country. The five people were taken to FBI headquarters for questioning.
