United States of America Assemblyman, Bill Nojay, has died by suicide on Friday morning over fraud-related charges connected to a trust fund he handled as an attorney.
William R. "Bill" Nojay, a 59-year-old U.S Republican representing the 133rd Assembly seat in Upstate New York, shot himself around 9:22am on Friday, September 9, just as he was scheduled to turn himself into the FBI on a fraud charge.
According to NY Daily Times, Bill's charges were related to a trust fund he handled as an attorney. The FBI also had been probing a business deal related to Rochester’s $1.3bn school modernization program, which he played a central role in.
The deceased called his lawyer, saying he planned to take his life. A police officer tracked him down, but he pulled the trigger before he could be stopped.
He is survived by a wife and three children.
