Sallah: DHQ urges screening of people at places of worship

The Defence authorities have asked religious places of worship to ensure screening of people during the forthcoming Sallah celebration.

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, told our correspondent on the telephone on Saturday that it was important for the worship centres to complement the efforts of the military and other security agencies to forestall any plan by terrorist elements to cause havoc during the period of celebrations.

Abubakar said that the Boko Haram members had been known in the past to disguise as mad people to have access to markets and other large gatherings in other to carry out heinous acts against the country and the citizenry.

He said while security agents were working hard to ensure there was no security breach during the period, it was also important for the citizenry to volunteer necessary information to them on any suspicious objects and strange faces in the areas.

He said, “Insurgents, the world over are known for surprises and since they don’t have identity, they always hide. However, our men, our soldiers and other security agencies are equal to the task, they are up and doing, they are all working round the clock to ensure effective security all over the country.

“However, we are still advising people to be very careful, and to talk to security agencies in any situation.

“We have said it already, they came out in so many colors. At a time, they came out as mad men and mad women just for them to have access to markets, or crowded places to carry out their antics.
