EFCC goes after mansion of former Bauchi Governor

EFCC goes after mansion of former Bauchi Governor

The palatial residence of former Bauchi State governor, Mallam Isah Yuguda, has caught the attention of investigation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This is as officials of the commission visited the mansion situated at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA Bauchi at the weekend.

The operatives, who took photos of the building, hinted that it was under investigation.

Bauchi government, after the raid, confirmed the presence of EFCC in the state.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Assistant to the Bauchi State governor on Communications, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar.

“This new development might not be unconnected with the series of complaints and petitions filed against the former governor by the current Bauchi State government under Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar to the EFCC,” it said.

Recall that Bauchi government earlier hinted the possibility to probeYuguda’s tenure.

In July, Governor Abubakar accused Yuguda of withdrawing N1bn from one of the state government’s accounts within 24 hours.

Abubakar alleged that the N1bn was withdrawn with multiple N10m cheques.
