A group of youths in the Sunshine State of Ondo have derided the 'Jagaban of Nigerian democracy' in a pronounced protest that featured denigrating inscriptions on placards.
A group of youths on Tuesday stormed the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress to protest what they claim is “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s overbearing influence on party affairs”, according to the Punch.
The youths, who came under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress Democratic Youth Frontiers, held several banners with anti-Tinubu slogans, some of which read: “We are united in APC, Tinubu can’t separate us;” “Tinubu is not God;” “Greed is not democracy;” “No room for an emperor”…
The protest is not far from the Ondo gubernatorial election crisis within the APC where Tinubu's preferred candidate, Segun Abraham failed to clinch the party's gubernatorial ticket leading to turbulence in the opposition party.
Rotimi Akeredolu who defeated Tinubu's anointed candidate has refused to publicly comment on the party crisis as he maintains focus on the electoral hurdle facing his position as the party's representative.
