Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar revealed, on Thursday, November 17, 2016, that he had broken a major jinx as nobody in his family ever crossed the age of 70.
Abubakar, who served as vice president for eight years under his estranged boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has broken the record as he has clocked 70.
The politician, who had severally contested for the presidency in Nigeria, spoke in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state, at an event to mark his birthday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was organised by students of American University of Nigeria Academy and Primary schools.
“It is a milestone in my life because nobody in my family has ever lived up to 70 years,” he revealed.
While commending the students for the surprise of a birthday bash in his honour, the former vice president reiterated his commitment to continue to support education in the country.
He also begged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend the ongoing warning strike for the sake of Nigerian students, adding that education was the backbone of development.
