Premium Times is reporting that unknown gunmen have attacked the campaign office of Senator Shehu Sani, leaving many casualties.
Witnesses revealed that the senator's supporters were holding a meeting at their campaign office when the unknown assailants opened fire on them, leaving some injured in the process.
Suleiman Sule, the senator's special aide, informed that some of his boss's loyalists were in a meeting when the incident occurred.
The spokesperson of the senator representing Kaduna central district, however told Premium Times that, "Police officers have already cordoned the office area."
Residents who witnessed the incident said: "They were all with dangerous weapons and all headed across the road where Shehu Sani’s office was. They dispersed some people who were holding meeting in the office.
"Thank God it is a busy area and there is always the presence of police officers. Before it could get out of hand they thugs ran away."
As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear what was the cause of the attack on the supporters, but it should be noted that the state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has not been in good terms with the senator.
