In what looks like a reprisal protest, the supporters of the All Progressives Congress have stormed the street to counter governor Nyesom Wike's allegations against the conduct of the police during the Rivers Re-run election.
Supporters of the All Progressives Congress party, APC, in Rivers have shut down Port Harcourt, protesting what they termed killings of their members, harassment and blackmailing of the security agencies by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members especially during the December 10 re-run election held in the state.
The protesters numbering over a thousand carried placards with inscriptions such as; “The sacrifice of the police is commendable,” “The Police tried their best but Wike won’t let them be,” “Blood thirsty Wike on the prowl” among others.
The protesters also demanded the immediate resignation and the investigation of the Rivers State INEC REC & and all others, whom according to them, “governor Wike compromised and indulged in bribery/corruption, which subverted the true will of the people, and resulted to a very poor conduct of the rerun election by INEC, as clearly exposed in the trending audio recording of Nyesom Wike’s conversation with INEC officials.”
They said they were equally “protesting the barbaric killing and beheading of a senior police officer and his men at ONELGA during the last rerun election and other crimes against humanity sponsored/supported by Wike’s government in Rivers State.”
