The Nigerian army takes the delivery of Slovak-made mine sweeper.

The Nigerian army has stepped up its game in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists in the north-east.

The first photos of the newly-acquired unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) BOZENA-5 have emerged online.

The Slovak-made UGV is designed for clearance of all conventional anti-personnel and anti-tank land mines and for improvised explosive devices' removal assistance.

Apparently, the mine-clearing machine is already in use on the Borno state roads.

The army also receives weaponised and armoured Toyota jeeps

The latest photos available online show a new Toyota 4x4 weaponised jeep which was also procured and accepted by the Nigerian army.

It would be noted that despite heavy criticisms and the ongoing 'Dasukigate' the Buhari administration intensified procurement of military equipment in 2016.

In the beginning of December the Nigerian Air Force took the delivery of the first four out of 10 MFI-17 Super Mushshak primary trainer aircraft ordered from the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC).

Nigeria also awaits the delivery of four new Russian-made Mi-35N attack helicopters and three JF-17 Thunder multi-role jet fighters from Pakistan.

Unfortunately, the delivery of three A-29 Super Tucano light-attack aircraft from Brazil suffered an unexpected setback. The USA blocked the deal in November 2016.
