Accidental discharge injures Aso Rock female staff

A female staff in the presidential villa was yesterday hit by bullet released accidentally from a rifle from a security operative right inside the prescient of Aso Rock.

The staff,whose name could not be ascertained at press time, sustained injuries on her thigh and part of her back.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened at the Administrative Reception of the presidential villa.

The security agent (name, undisclosed) was said to be making attempt to empty the weapon when it went off and injured him and the woman.

Part of the security requirement in Aso Rock demands that operatives carrying arms, particularly those accompanying dignitaries from outside the villa, drop such weapons at designated checkpoints before entering.

The affected female staff is currently recuperating at the State House Medical Centre in Asokoro.
