Nigerian immigration officer causes chaos at worship centre
- The immigration officer had earlier gone to his office to sign and collect the AK-47 riffle before heading to the worship centre the next day
- He was arrested with injuries after vandalising the worship centre and is reportedly receiving treatment
An official of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has been arrested after he stormed a worship centre in Jalingo, Taraba state with an AK-47 rifle and vandalized property belonging to the worship centre.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mahmood Idris, armed with the weapon which he signed and collected from his office, entered the worship centre on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
He was arrested later by a local vigilance group.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the police command in the state, Mr David Misal, Idris broke into the church and that he sustained injury during the process of his arrest.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect, who is believed to be mentally ill, has been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo for treatment. He said the medical examination would confirm the suspect’s state of health.
He also said that no church member was hurt in the attack.
Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, the director of security of the church, had reportedly told journalists that the suspect was arrested after two of his accomplices escaped.
