The IPOB in a statement said one of its members in Washington DC will be representing the group at the US president's inauguration.
A statement by the group said the IPOB was invited by Trump’s inauguration committee to witness the swearing in of the 45th president of the US.
The group in its statement said the slot – a VIP slot – came on the heels of the IPOB/Trump solidarity rally taking place in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

“The leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who would have been personally there to witness the inauguration but unfortunately, is still being held in detention by the Nigerian government illegally.
“Mazi Nnamd Kanu and others has been in detention for over one year over charges of treason and has been granted bails by a series of court rulings, which the Nigerian government and DSS refused to obey,” the IPOB added.
Meanwhile, the groups solidarity rally in support of Donald Trump is currently ongoing in Port Harcourt.
However, there are reports of shooting of some of the protesting members by security operatives in the state.
