Southern Kaduna: Violence is revenge for 2011 post-presidential elections killings of Fulanis – Miyetti Allah

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has claimed that the ongoing violence in Southern Kaduna was a reprisal attack for the killing of Fulani herdsmen after the 2011 presidential election.

The group, however, called on its members to stop the violence, saying that it is not the way forward.

Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the assistant national secretary of the group on Sunday, January 1 said some foreign herdsmen were killed alongside local Fulani herdsmen after the 2011 election.

He recalled that the late Governor Patrick Yakowa reached out to the herdsmen using some members of MACBAN in 2011 which finally resolved the issues in 2012.

Abdullahi said the governor’s successors did not continue with the policies and applauded Governor Nasir El-Rufai for trying to find peace and lasting solution.

He said, “The latest attacks in Southern Kaduna were reprisal attacks for the killings of Fulani herdsmen after the 2011 presidential election. However, we have informed them that violence is not the way forward. We having been trying to see how we could resolve the problem amicably,” Abdulahi said.
