36-year-old banker in trouble over N1.2m love scam
- Timothy Adegbaji Ademiju thought that as a banker, he could help some fraudsters cut corners as they fleeced an Italian
- He has now been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and would be facing the court soon
A 36-year-old banker, Timothy Adegbaji Ademiju, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for conniving with a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to defraud an Italian.

The Italian said he had sent the money before it dawned on him that he had been scammed.
Ademiju allegedly used his position as the officer in charge of the Western Union Money Transfer to process fraudulent transactions with Taiye Shittu Habibulahi, a student of OAU while they fleeced the Italian whose name was given as G Rossi.

He was arrested by the Ibadan zonal office with Taiye.
According to Sahara Reporters, to be successful with their fraud, Ademiju struck a deal with a student of
, Akungba, Ondo state, whose name was given as David Olaoluwa Adesubokan.
Also known as Opinion, Adesubokan who is now at large reportedly fleeced the man of huge sums while posing as an American lady, Grace Thomas, a nursing student at the OAU in serious need of financial assistance in form of a loan.

The victim said he paid the €2,400, which is equivalent of N1,221,600.00 in tranches before it dawned on him that it was a scam.
The EFCC says the suspect would be charged to court soon.
