Beji said, “Ahmadu Ali is still in the PDP. He is participating in all our activities, he has not left us and he has no plans to leave us.”
He made this known on Tuesday while fielding questions from journalists in his office, where he said Ali, who also a former PDP Board of Trustees member, had been contributing positively to the resolution of the crisis plaguing the party.
Beji, however, refused to be dragged into an exchange of words with Obasanjo saying, “He is an elder statesman who has served this country meritoriously. We should allow him time to have his deserved rest.”
Obasanjo had said last weekend during one of the events to mark his 80th birthday that the PDP sank after Ali and himself quit the party.
However, Beji who acknowledged that the party was going through hard times, said, “What is happening is there is confusion everywhere. Personal interests have taken over general interests. This must be jettisoned for the crisis to be resolved.”
He described the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government as the first enemy of the party, alleging that that APC had moles within the PDP.
