The edible flesh of Durian emits a distinctive odour that is strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as having a pleasantly sweet fragrance; others find the aroma overpowering and revolting.

The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as rotten onions,turpentine, and raw sewage.
Besides its odor, Durian has come to spotlight because of a folklore about how it can cause fatally when eaten with Coke.
One facebook post emerges few months back that warned netizens to not drink coke once you have conumed Durian. The alleged victim's photo was attached with the post.
The man was a tourist from China who visited Vietnam. Witness says he enjoyed eating Durian for the first time but when he felt thirsty, he immediately downed it with coke. Unfortunately, he died of caffeene intoxication.
Studies have shown that the durian's high sulfur content impairs alcohol and caffeine breakdown by 70%, thus, making the body almost full of caffeine.
Whether the story was true or not, it's still best to avoid drinking any alcoholic or caffeinated drink if you're eating the "King Of Fruits."
