On the controversial wearing of Uniform, the CG through the letter informed the Senate that the legal unit of the Customs was currently looking into the implications, assuring that he would also brief the Senate on that.
“However, I wish to express my willingness to make myself available at a further date if called upon”, part of the letter stated.
The development rose tempers in the Chambers as Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC) described the conduct of the Customs CG as disdainful to the institution of the Senate.
Marafa maintained that they were Nigerians who had integrity to occupy the position of CG, noting that the Senate would not allow itself to be rubbishedd.

“Mr. President, when issues like this becomes an affront between the Senate and an individual, full weight of law should be applied rather than joining issues”, Sekibo noted.
“Mr. President, in line with section 89, I rise to say that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col.Hameed Ali (Rtd) to appear before the Senate on Thursday”, he added.
However, Senator Olusola Adeyeye in his attempt to second the motion with amendment was rebuffed, thus making him to withdraw, before the Deputy Senate President, IkeEkweremadu seconded.
The Senate President, through a voice vote upheld that the CG of Customs appear before the Senate tomorrow at 10am.
