Teachers to earn higher salaries than other workers -FG
- The federal government says teachers will soon be earning higher salaries than others in Nigeria
- FG said higher salaries will help attract the best minds into the teaching profession
- Meanwhile, teachers in Nigeria who failed to register with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) before the year’s end stand the risk of being sent out of classrooms
It is gathered that teachers will soon be earning salaries higher than other workers in the country.
This is according to the federal government of Nigeria.

The FG, through the minister of education, Adamu Adamu said this on Thursday May 25 at the inauguration of Governing Councils of 21 Federal Colleges of Education, the Nation reports.
He said higher salaries will help attract the best minds into the teaching profession.

The minister who was represented by Prof. Anthony Anwukah, minister of state for education insisted that teaching profession is no longer a “all-comers affairs.”
Going further, he disclosed that teachers in Nigeria who failed to register with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) before the year’s end stand the risk of being sent out of classrooms.
Citing the educational revolution of Malassia, the Adamu said the government got it right by reorganizing its educational sector for effective development of human resources.
According to him, teachers in Malaysia command higher salaries than other workers in the country.
“What did they do? They brought the whole system down and ask what do you want us to do in education. Their planning was geared towards the development of human resources. In Malaysia, top percent of those who scored the highest in their equivalent of JAMB compete to be teachers.
“If you are a teacher in Malaysia, you are to ranked than any other worker in the country. This is why you will find people with PhDs teaching in primary schools. Teachers are paid higher than any other person in Malaysia and we have made that recommendation and we are going to do that in Nigeria,” he said.

Meanwhile, It is reported that six students of Igbonla Model college in Epe local government area of Lagos state were abducted.
The suspected kidnappers were said to have attempted to gain entrance into the school premises through the rear-fence on Wednesday May 24 but were repelled by policemen on guard who radioed for reinforcement.
