The Guardian and other media quoted British officials as saying the government had been warned that Trump might visit his golf resort in Scotland between his attendance at the July 7-8 G20 summit in Hamburg and the Bastille Day celebrations in France on July 14.
If Trump does visit Scotland, he is expected to hold informal talks with Prime Minister, Theresa May, in London, the newspaper said.
It said: “Final confirmation would be likely to be given with just 24 hours’ notice to minimise the risk of disruption [by protesters].”
“Apparently Trump thinks he can sneak into the UK to avoid protestors,” Women’s March London said on Twitter.
“We’re ready for you, Trump,’’ the Stop Trump coalition said. “Ain’t no way you’re going to sneak into the UK!”
Asad Rehman, Director of Anti-poverty Group War on Want, said Trump’s “misogynist, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant views have contributed to a spike in Islamophobic and other hate crimes in the USA”.
Rehman added: “With racism once again blighting the lives of many communities here in the UK, the last thing the UK government should be offering is a veneer of respectability to someone who promotes divisive and reactionary policies such as Muslim and refugee bans.”
