Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is reportedly hiding in the creeks in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria as security operations continue in the southeast.
We learnt that Kanu had suddenly disappeared from Abia state, where he resided and carried out majority of his activities since returning from detention.

The Point says it has strong indications that Kanu is hiding with some of his aides who escaped the heat of the Operation Python Dance in his home-base recently.
The report said the IPOB leader is not being protected by some militants in the Niger Delta as revealed by a top security source.
The source reportedly said Kanu’s disappearance into the creeks has become worrisome as this could compound the tension in the southeastern part of the country.
His fear is that “the harmless pro-Biafra leader will now be turned to a warlord, as he is surely going to be tutored in the art of war by the militants.”
The report also quoted an IPOB source as revealing that Kanu would not be leaving the creeks soon.

“We have to apply wisdom to whatever we are doing. We have realised that there is a grand conspiracy against Kanu and other top leaders of our group.
“Just imagine, barely few hours after the Nigerian military declared members of the IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups as terrorists, the southeast governors came up with their own outright ban of our activities.
“This definitely will give the soldiers and other security agencies the opportunity to arrest our leader and mount a deadly clampdown on all IPOB members. So, it is better to operate from a hideout for now.”

Also, the report quoted Kanu’s younger brother, popularly called Fine Boy, as speaking exclusively and saying: “The invading troops did not get at him and he’s not among those taken away. The whereabouts of the leader (Kanu) cannot be known.
“But they succeeded in killing as many IPOB members as they saw at the palace. In short, they have desecrated the palace.”
We earlier reported that the Igbos for Nigeria Movement (INM) called on Ohaneze Ndigbo to apologise to the military for allowing Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to cause hatred in southeast.
According to Nigerian Tribune, INM explained that some top members of Ohaneze and Igbo political leaders had banked on using IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu to score political points in the region.
