Awka, the capital of Anambra State, is agog in readiness for the inauguration of Chief Willie Obiano and Dr. Nkem Okeke, his Deputy, for a second term in office tomorrow.
The state capital is wearing a new look and both Anambra Transport Management Agency (ATMA) and its sister agency, Ocha Brigade, have taken steps to ensure free flow of traffic in the state capital.
Motorcycle riders popularly known as okada have been relocated from their hitherto loading areas, especially at the Aroma area of the town.

On the boulevard leading to Ekwueme Square, venue of the inauguration, is a giant billboard of Obiano and Okeke with the inscription, “Another Promising Tenure Begins!” with both governor and his deputy showing victory signs.
A press release by the second term inauguration committee signed by its chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, said, “All is now set for the second term inauguration of His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, and His Excellency, Dr. Nkem Okeke, as Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State on Saturday, March 17, 2018.”
The release stated that a three-day programme of activities has been put together as the inauguration ceremonies and they include a business roundtable with a theme, “Consolidating the Vision,” which would take place in Awka on Friday, March 16, 2018.
This would be followed by the formal inauguration ceremony at Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 while the concluding part of the inauguration ceremonies would be a Thanksgiving Mass to be held St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, on Sunday, March 18, 2018.
Ibezi explained that the convocation of the Anambra Business Roundtable is to “signpost the trajectory of Governor Obiano’s second term which is targeted at ushering in a “Greater Tomorrow” for Ndi Anambra.
“The business roundtable will bring together critical stakeholders from the public and private sectors to highlight growth opportunities in the emerging industries in Anambra State.
“At the end of the roundtable, new partnerships would be established aimed at making lives better for Ndi Anambra, through sustainable value creation,” he said.

Ibezi further stated that His Excellency, Edward Kallon, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, would be leading international development partners to the very important roundtable.
He said Anambra citizens would witness and participate in a swearing-in ceremony, the first of its kind not only in Anambra State, but also in the entire South East geo-political region, noting that already all the various 21 local government areas in the state had been sensitised to participate in the ceremony.
“Preparations at Ekwueme Square, venue of the swearing-in ceremony, were almost complete and the swearing-in ceremony would be witnessed by dignitaries from across Nigeria and some select foreign countries,” Ibezi added.
The inauguration deserves pomp given that Governor Obiano’s was massive as he won his re-election in all the 21 local governments in the state.
