President Muhammadu Buhari's aide, Okoi Obono-Obla, chairman of the special presidential investigation panel for the recovery of public properties, has come under fire as a house of representatives panel called for his arrest
The ad-hoc committee called for his arrest during its sitting on Tuesday, May 15, TheCable reports.
The ad-hoc committee probing the legality of the panel was angered by Obono-Obla’s failure to honour their invitation to appear on three occasions since their sittings started.

The Cable reports that Bode Ayorinde, a member of the panel, alleged that Obono-Obla’s refusal to honour the committee was an attempt to frustrate the activities of the committee.
He was quoted to have said that members “would not allow that to happen”.
On his part, chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Ahman Pategi, lamented the persistent failure of Obono-Obla to honor three of their earlier summons.
The panel also said it is investigating Obono-Obla over his certificate from the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
The chairman alleged that the committee received various petitions from the public against Obono-Obla regarding his entry qualification into the university.
“We wrote to the West African Examination Council and the University of Jos (where the presidential aide was said to have attended) to investigate the allegation,” he said.

Meanwhile, We had reported that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, alleged that there is an ongoing plot by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to implicate him in a crime.
Saraki, who made the allegation on Wednesday, May 16, during plenary, claimed that the IGP had ordered that some suspected cultists arrested in Kwara state be transferred to Abuja, where they are expected to make statements that will implicate him.
